Sri Lanka is one of the prettiest destinations neighbouring India located in the Indian Ocean. Shaped like a tear drop, this beautiful island country offers plenty of options to tourists. For centuries, Sri Lanka has been a popular among foreign travellers. The Chinese traveller, Fa-Hien, visited Sri Lanka as early as the 410's AD/CE. In the twelfth century, Italian explorer Marco Polo claimed Sri Lanka to be the "best island of its size in the world".
Sri Lanka has a tropical climate and enjoys sunny weather and warm temperatures almost all through the year. Most parts of the country experience eight hours of sunshine. However, it experiences two monsoon seasons – the south west monsoon and the north east monsoon. Therefore, the weather in Sri Lanka does not run like clockwork — you could wake up to clear blue skies in the rainy season and are equally likely to encounter a thunderstorm in the dry season.
